Description

Kitsuma features 10 miles of hiking trails near Black Mountain, NC. Hike up switchbacks through the scenic Pisgah National Forest and be ready for a workout. The ascent to the ridge is a tough one, but the views are worth it, and the descent down the Blue Ridge is a little easier. Be careful of steep dropoffs near the trail, and keep an eye out for mountain bikers as well.

Directions

Take exit #66 (Ridgecrest) off of I-40. Turn north (left if getting off east I-40 - right if getting off west I-40). At stop sign turn right onto Old Hwy. 70. Stay on this road until you come to a stop sign. Go straight across the road to Royal Gorge road and to the dead end parking area. Follow the trail along the Interstate until it starts to climb. After 14 switchbacks go over the top of the ridge. The trail stays on top of the ridge. At the only fork in the trail, take the left side trail.
